Chairman of the Board of Directors Chi Keung Lau and President Mei Hing Chak Attended the 2017 APEC CEO Summit

The 2017 APEC CEO Summit was held in Da Nang, Vietnam on November 8-10. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech calling for efforts to create new drivers of growth for Asia Pacific, push forward the APEC Connectivity Blueprint, boost the real economy development and jointly draw a new vision for future cooperation. President Xi Jinping said China will work with parties concerned to push forward stable development of APAC economic cooperation and facilitate prosperity of the Asia-Pacific and the world.
With “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future” as the theme of this summit, discussions were made in relation to a series of topics such as “globalization future”, “create new employment opportunities and future jobs”, “connectivity driven growth”, “explore new trade frontiers”, “digital era”, “made in the world” and “resources efficiency and sustainable growth”.
During the summit, Chairman Chi Keung Lau and President Mei Hing Chak listened the speeches delivered by state leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Trump and Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on globalization future, integration of regional economy, connectivity driven growth and free trade, and discussions by corporate leaders like the Global President of PWC Mr. Robert. E. Mite and CIO of AIA Mr. Mark on topics such as challenges faced by companies in the process of globalization, new opportunities of economic development created by technologies, trade facilitation and business development, and improvement of economic vitality.
Currently consisting of 21 members, APEC was founded in 1989, and it is an economic and trade cooperation mechanism of the highest level, widest coverage and greatest influence in the Asia Pacific region. While the APEC CEO Summit as an important part of the APEC Summit, is a multilateral cooperation platform of the deepest participation, widest participation and highest-level participation for the industrial and commercial circles in the Asia Pacific region. As an important platform for dialogs among leaders from different economies, hot social and economic issues in the Asia Pacific region and future development are discussed at the summit.
